Jaheira Build - Nature's Servant - Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3)

The post will cover the Jaheira Build - Nature's Servant for Baldur's Gate 3. She is a well-known Harper druid from previous game entries. Her main subclass is Land Druid, around which the build will revolve. Jaheira does offer her help in one of the big game fights, and later can join you permanently.

Jaheira build - Nature's Servant

You first encounter Jaheira in Act 2. She is a major character for the story arc, and can be known from the previous games, particularly Baldur's Gate 2. The goal of this build is to reflect two aspects of her: a druid and her love for nature, and a combatant and agent of the Harpers.

We will go with Land Druid as the core, as this is her default subclass and reflects her relationship with Nature. The feature set is also pretty good, from control spells, to stuff like Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain icon bg3Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain. Moreover, you can use Wild Shape icon bg3Wild Shape if certain situations require.

The second part was hard to decide. In Baldur's Gate 3, it was Fighter. Here I saw a few options - Gloom Stalker, Hunter, Battle Master and Eldritch Knight. I think none of these can be wrong. But with a few discussions (thanks Machina), and polishing the combat loop, Battle Master felt right at home. Action Surge icon bg3Action Surge, Manoeuvres like Pushing Attack icon bg3Pushing Attack, allows to keep various options for damage and control.

Hope you like the idea of the build, and enjoy reading it!

How to effectively use and read the build? Here are a few tips:

  1. Build Overview gives a high-level overview of each level
  2. Go into the leveling progression to understand why these picks were made, which also offers variations and mechanics explanations
  3. The equipment section offers gear progression and gives an in-depth explanation of what each piece offers to the build
  4. Check the Mechanics section to fully understand how the build falls into place

Class Contribution

This shows the class contribution of the build

7 Land Druid

So this is the core of the build that you will use the most:

  • A solid variety of proficiencies - medium, light armor and shields
  • Prepared spells feature, that allows you to change what spells you can use outside of combat
  • Wild Shape icon bg3Wild Shape, allowing you to change to various animals, with a separate HP bar, and special features.
  • Natural Recovery icon bg3Natural Recovery enables you to refresh used spell slots when out of combat, prolonging the need for long resting.
  • Special Circle of the Land spells, like Coast icon bg3Coast, Arctic icon bg3Arctic, etc, that give learned spells without needing to prepare them.
  • Wild Strike icon bg3Wild Strike that buffs Wild Shape icon bg3Wild Shape with an extra attack.
  • Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain icon bg3Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain - to help move on Difficult Terrain icon bg3Difficult Terrain, without slowing down.
  • A special summon Conjure Woodland Being icon bg3Conjure Woodland Being that can also summon Fallen Lover icon bg3Fallen Lover, as an additional combatant. This also comes with a free Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth, to greatly improve battlefield control.

5 Battle Master Fighter

  • Second Wind icon action bg3Second Wind for a slight HP restoration, although most of the time it is more economical to use healing potions.
  • Fighting style, to give a slight stat boost.
  • Proficiency in Constitution Saving Throw icon bg3Saving Throw, which is especially important if you are using any kind of Concentration icon bg3Concentration spells.
  • Action Surge icon action bg3Action Surge for an additional full action point, for a larger number of attacks.
  • Access to Battlemaster manoeuvres, my favourite ones - Precision Attack icon action bg3Precision Attack, Disarming Attack icon bg3Disarming Attack and Pushing Attack icon passive feature bg3Pushing Attack. There are many others to choose from, but these are my top 3.
  • Extra Attack icon bg3Extra Attack, which outright boosts your potential damage with more attacks.

Build Variations

For this build, there are a lot of options, both from a progression perspective and the level splits

Setup Description
  • 5 Hunter
  • 7 Land Druid
This setup can use Horde Breaker icon bg3Horde Breaker and get even more attacks, especially if you can land it before combat starts, to get a free Horde Breaker icon bg3Horde Breaker again.
  • 5 Gloom Stalker
  • 7 Land Druid
This setup helps well with spell slot progression; you gain a free attack on initial turn via Dread Ambusher icon bg3Dread Ambusher and have Umbral Shroud icon bg3Umbral Shroud when needed. The setup enables you to attack on the initial turn and also cast a spell if needed.

Synergy with other builds

This section will give a few ideas on how to utilize other builds to maximize the combat potential of the group. There are usually various synergies that make the group play more enjoyable. However, this should not be the main factor. With full game knowledge, any party composition will work freely.

Piercing Damage

Synergetic Builds Enabler Description
Bhaalist Armour icon bg3Bhaalist Armour for the Aura Of Murder icon bg3Aura Of Murder For the late game, you can use Bhaalist Armour icon bg3Bhaalist Armour to apply easy piercing vulnerability - Aura Of Murder icon bg3Aura Of Murder. This is a very powerful buff that makes it easy to deal very high damage in Act 3.

Control Spells

Synergetic Builds Enabler Description
Any Hold Person icon bg3Hold Person Disabling a group or a single foe, allows your allies to hit them with guaranteed critical hits
Hunger of Hadar icon bg3Hunger of Hadar You can cast Sleet Storm icon bg3Sleet Storm, Plant Growth icon bg3Plant Growth or Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth to create the ultimate crowd control area, where enemies can barely move and constantly receive damage.

Lightning and Cold casters

Synergetic Builds Enabler Description
  • Create or Destroy Water icon bg3Create or Destroy Water
  • Lightning Bolt icon bg3Lightning Bolt
  • Chain Lightning icon bg3Chain Lightning
As you can use both Call Lightning icon bg3Call Lightning and Create or Destroy Water icon bg3Create or Destroy Water this enables a very powerful synergy between these builds

Darkness Setup

You can get access to Darkness icon bg3Darkness spell via land druid features, but it's also easy to be able to see inside it via items likes Eversight Ring icon bg3Eversight Ring.

Synergetic Builds Enabler Description

Sorlock
  • Devil's Sight icon bg3Devil's Sight
  • Darkness icon bg3Darkness
Sorlock can create and also see inside the Darkness icon bg3Darkness thanks to the Devil's Sight icon bg3Devil's Sight

Starting the Build - Level 1

This section covers the creation screen and what would go into the best Races, Abilities, and Skills for the Jaheira build. Some of these choices are impactful as you cannot respec them.

How to Unlock Jaheira?

Jaheira is first encountered in Act 2, and can fully join based on certain conditions, close to the end of it

Spoilers on recruiting Jaheira

You will first meet her in Map icon bg3Last Light Inn in Act 2. After a few dialogue exchanges, she will be staying there for the time being. Overall, depending on your decisions and combat outcomes, the Inn might be attacked or even destroyed; this only impacts how early she will join you as a full companion.

The Good Playthrough

If everything goes well, Isobel is saved, you will do these steps:

  1. You will naturally progress to Map icon bg3Moonrise Towers - Main Floor, and learn about the next mission
  2. The big story progression will be to the Gauntlet of Shar via the Map icon bg3Grand Mausoleum Entrance
  3. If you save Nightsong, Jaheira joins you on the attack of the Moonrise Towers, where you can get her as a temporary companion, before the fight on Map icon bg3Moonrise Towers - Main Floor
  4. Once you reach Map icon bg3Moonrise Towers Rooftop and defeat Ketheric Thorm, she can join you, before you move to the Map icon bg3Mind Flayer Colony

The Bad Playthrough

In case the Map icon bg3Last Light Inn gets destroyed, you can still ally with her, once you defeat Ketheric on Map icon bg3Moonrise Towers Rooftop. However, she will only join your camp for now, and become a full-fledged companion in Act 3.

Origins and Characters

Here are the Origin and character picks that have a slight advantage with this build:

Origin Features Description
jaheira icon bg3Jaheira As the build revolves around Jaheira, she will be our pick. She does come with Half-Elf features, but sadly her cantrip choice sucks.

Respec at Withers to Level 1

One thing that you will want to do is Respec at Withers to start from scratch. This is important because this will allow you to reallocate better stats and to maximize combat potential through correct class picks.

Class

Overview
fighter bg3Fighter
Features
Second Wind icon action bg3Second Wind You can use this to heal yourself in tight encounters, to get a little bit more of survivability.

Fighter also comes with

Fighting Style

Style Description
Defence icon bg3Defence This would be my pick as it boosts armour class, directly boosting survivability.
Two-Weapon Fighting icon bg3Two-Weapon Fighting This is also a good option, as the build will use dual-wielding. However, if you plan on using Belm icon bg3Belm this is kinda obsolete, as the attacks will always come from the main-hand weapon.

Abilities

Now, let's take a look at the abilities of the Jaheira build. Correct allocation will allow you to maximise the early gameplay and get good modifier bonuses.

BG3 Build Ability Points
Build ID: 16323

Skills and Expertise

Overall, the skills should be impacted by your roleplaying and background decisions. However, you would still want those that will give you the best benefits. My recommendation would be to go for these, most relevant to the theme of the build or where you have high ability modifiers:

  • Intimidation
  • Acrobatics
  • Athletics

Leveling Progression 2-12

Here is the detailed progression for Jaheira to get you started. You can use it as a guideline because early games can be daunting and overwhelming. Later on, once you get a feel for the class, you can start picking your options

Levels 2-6

Level 2

Feature Description
Action Surge icon action bg3Action Surge The iconic action of a fighter is extremely popular for its simplicity and effectiveness. You get additional action with full bonuses from Extra Attack icon passive feature bg3Extra Attack.

Level 3

Here you can choose the subclass:

Overview
battlemaster bg3Battle Master
Features
superiority dice bg3Superiority Dice These dice give a bonus of 1d8 damage, can be used 4 times, and are reset each short and long rest. Easy damage increase and improved battlefield control.

For Manoeuvres, here are my recommendations:

Manoeuvre Description
Disarming Attack icon passive feature bg3Disarming Attack Very powerful action, which allows them to disarm foes and force them to drop their weapons.
Pushing Attack icon passive feature bg3Pushing Attack Excellent option, for when you need to push off an enemy from a ledge, or into your created areas like Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth
Menacing Attack icon bg3Menacing Attack This is great for applying Frightened icon bg3Frightened, to limit the enemy movement speed

Level 4

This level is important for picking a feat; here are my recommendations:

Feat Description
Savage Attacker icon passive feature bg3Savage Attacker A straightforward feat that gives a significant boost to each damage roll that you do, including damage riders.

Level 5

The level gives an important feature for a melee build:

Feature Description
Extra AttackExtra Attack Can make an additional free attack after making a hit with your main action point.

Level 6 - Multiclass into Druid Lv 1

Here, we will do the first multiclass into Druid. This will cover the second aspect of Jaheira's build, to reflect her connection to nature. Here are the steps on how you can do it:

The class choice is obvious:

Overview
druid bg3Druid
Druids channel the elemental forces of nature and share a deep kinship with animals. Mastery of Wild Shape allows them to transform into beasts from all over the Realms.
Features
ico_mini_spellSlot Baldur's Gate 3Spell Slots These can be used to cast spells and are restored each long rest.

These are the cantrip recommendations:

Cantrip Description
Guidance icon action bg3Guidance Pick this if you do not have a cleric in the group. This is the most useful cantrip in the game that helps with almost all ability roll checks.
Thorn Whip icon action bg3Thorn Whip Can be situationally useful when you want to force enemies to come closer to you, especially if you are standing on various Difficult Terrain icon bg3Difficult Terrain areas.

Prepare Spells Recommendations

Spell Description
Longstrider icon bg3Longstrider Very valuable spell, for any build, which can be applied to each party member for free after long rest.
Create or Destroy Water icon bg3Create or Destroy Water Can be used to apply Wet icon bg3Wet condition, which doubles lightning and cold damage. This is an excellent option both for your and ally spells.
Enhance Leap icon bg3Enhance Leap Improves jumping distance, which is great for exploration
Healing Word icon bg3Healing Word Can help in certain situations where you want to resurrect a Downed icon bg3Downed ally.
Fog Cloud icon bg3Fog Cloud Although not as good as Darkness icon bg3Darkness, it can still be situationally useful, especially if you have Blinded icon bg3Blinded immunity
Thunderwave icon bg3Thunderwave A solid spell that can push off a single or group of enemies.

Levels 7-10

Generally, this covers the Act 2 part of the game. This unlocks items that give a slight boost to a few builds, and you uncover a really interesting part of the story.

Level 7 - Druid Lv 2

Now you are ready to pick the subclass. As you can expect:

Overview
circle of the land bg3Circle of the Land
Features
wild shape charge bg3Wild Shape Charge Allows transforming into a beast using Wild Shape icon action bg3Wild Shape.
Wild Shape icon action bg3Wild Shape Take the form of an animal. As you progress to higher levels, new options are unlocked.
Natural Recovery icon action bg3Natural Recovery Excellent way to restore spell slots to extend the combat capabilities for the next encounter.

For cantrip option:

Spell Description
Shillelagh icon bg3Shillelagh Can be useful, especially if you will want to give a shot at trying slightly different weapons

Level 8 - Druid Lv 3

This is a unique feature to land druids, giving additional spell access besides the one in the prepared list. Generally, I recommend taking those picks that have spells that you cannot prepare.

Options Description
Underdark icon bg3Underdark Web icon bg3Web and Misty Step icon bg3Misty Step are great additions to the spell list.
Swamp icon bg3Swamp Pick this one, if you want access to Darkness icon bg3Darkness, especially if you are running a party around that.
Coast icon bg3Coast Offers a solid spell options, Mirror Image icon bg3Mirror Image is especially great to prebuff for melee combat.

As second-level spells are unlocked, here are a few recommendations that I recommend to keep on your list:

Spell Description
Hold Person icon bg3Hold Person Excellent spell that, when applied, will paralyze foes and make all attacks against it in close range critical hits.
Spike Growth icon action bg3Spike Growth Great area of control spell that can be used to inflict damage on enemies and apply certain control of an area. This forces enemies to waste movement speed while you can position yourself appropriately.
Heat Metal icon action bg3Heat Metal Very useful control spell for the early game. You can use it to make targets drop their weapons, disabling some very strong early-game opponents.
Enhance Ability icon action bg3Enhance Ability Usually, I reserve this spell for Bard. However, if you do not have it, Enhance Ability icon action bg3Enhance Ability can be a lifesaver in important ability checks.

Level 9 - Druid Lv 4

To be honest, all the cantrips have been picked, so go with whatever

Cantrips Description
Any Pick any cantrip choice.

Feat

Feat Description
Ability Improvement - +2 Dexterity Improves Armour Class (depending on the armour) and weapon damage/hit chance.
Magic Initiate: Sorcerer icon bg3Magic Initiate: Sorcerer

My recommended picks for cantrips:

For spells, I would take Shield icon bg3Shield

Heavy Armour Master icon bg3Heavy Armour Master This has a certain usefulness until you get Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain icon bg3Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain. When using Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth, you will get damaged, so to be safe on it, this feat, can help negate most of the damage.
Dual Wielder icon bg3Dual Wielder

Can be used to equip versatile weapons like Phalar Aluve icon bg3Phalar Aluve

Level 10 - Druid Lv 5

Level 5, is a big step for any caster and especially a Druid. Not only do you unlock level 3 spells, but get improvements to the Wild Shape icon action bg3Wild Shape forms.

Feature Description
Wild Strike icon passive feature bg3Wild Strike

Allows making a second attack with Wild Shape transformation.

For the Circle of Land picks:

Circle of the Land Description
Desert icon passive feature bg3Desert Hypnotic Pattern icon action bg3Hypnotic Pattern is an excellent control spell that can outright disable groups of enemies. It does work on allies, so be careful.
Mountain icon passive feature bg3Mountain Both of the spells here are not accessible to Druid. However, Lightning Bolt icon action bg3Lightning Bolt is an excellent pick, especially if you are using Create or Destroy Water icon action bg3Create or Destroy Water. Or you want just a strong blasting spell that does not use Concentration icon bg3Concentration.

As third-level spells are unlocked here are a few recommendations that I recommend to keep on your list:

Spell Description
Sleet Storm icon action bg3Sleet Storm This spell is a sleeper and is overlooked by many people. It is ridiculously strong, allowing you to make enemies skip their turns as they get Prone icon bg3Prone. Follow up with attacks with allies for Advantage icon bg3Advantage
Call Lightning icon action bg3Call Lightning If you need a blaster spell, this is a great option; however, it will require Concentration icon bg3Concentration, so be careful not to cancel other spell effects. Also, Call Lightning icon action bg3Call Lightning deals double damage on Wet icon bg3Wet enemies.
Plant Growth icon action bg3Plant Growth This spell does not use any Concentration icon bg3Concentration slot and can slow down enemies to a stop. It can also work well in Hunger of Hadar icon action bg3Hunger of Hadar, making foes just barely move.

Levels 11-12

This is where you will spend most of the time in Act 3. There will be an immense amount of content, and you can finish your builds and unlock extremely powerful gear.

Level 11 - Druid Lv 6

This is a major step for Druid. You unlock a few class features, that will pair well with terrain control spells:

Feature Description
Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain icon passive feature bg3Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain You can now easily move on that difficult terrain that you can summon.

New Wild Shape icon action bg3Wild Shape options are unlocked:

Action Description
Wild Shape: Panther icon action bg3Wild Shape: Panther Can become invisible and attack with bonus damage.
Wild Shape: Owlbear icon action bg3Wild Shape: Owlbear The most powerful wild shape in my opinion. Owl Bear has a decent attack with bonus action, and tons of HP, and can be used to crush enemies.

Level 12 - Druid Lv 7

Here are my choices for the learned spells:

Options Description
Arctic icon bg3Arctic, Coast icon bg3Coast, etc The situation here is that you will probably want to pick something that would save you prepared spells. As other spell options are not that good or useful.

Here are recommendations for prepared spells

Spell Description
Conjure Woodland Being icon action bg3Conjure Woodland Being This spell is almost a mandatory pick. The Dryad can cast Spike Growth icon action bg3Spike Growth for free. It can also summon Fallen Lover icon bg3Fallen Lover with its own set of features.
Confusion icon action bg3Confusion One of the most powerful control spells that can outright win encounters for you.
Ice Storm icon bg3Ice Storm Deals decent damage, but most importantly creates ice surfaces that will leave enemies Prone icon bg3Prone.
Wall of Fire icon action bg3Wall of Fire A very strong spell that, if placed correctly, can destroy foes. It does hit them multiple times - at your and your enemy's turn.

Equipment Recommendations

Here are some recommendations on how to follow the gear picks:

  1. I recommend checking the Item Checklists or Interactive Map, depending on which is easier to use for you. This will help you track which items and when you should pick them.
  2. Gear for each slot is listed Best -> Worst. Generally, this means that you would start with lower gear recommendations (as they are available earlier) and upgrade to higher ones. However, in some cases, the best items can be obtained early, like Titanstring Bow icon bg3Titanstring Bow, and some others.
  3. I mention Stat Sticks in caster and ranged builds. These are items that you do not use directly (like Club of Hill Giant Strength icon bg3Club of Hill Giant Strength, Knife of the Undermountain King icon bg3Knife of the Undermountain King, The Dead Shot icon bg3The Dead Shot, etc.), but their bonuses still apply to other weapon attacks or actions.
  4. If an item is taken by another character, use the one with lower priority or even those from previous acts. If you want to have the best items for all builds, this will require planning, which is not for everyone.

Act 2

If you obtain Jaheira in Act 2, her

Act 3 - Final Build setup

This is where you will unlock the strongest weapons and armors for most of the builds. It is split into two major parts, starting with Map icon bg3Rivington and later reaching the huge area - Map icon bg3Lower City itself.

Build Mechanics

In this section, I would like to dive deep into how to play the Jaheira Build. This will help you utilize it to the fullest and correctly use various actions and spells throughout the game.

Important Mechanics and Combos

Let's go through key mechanics and tips on how to effectively use the build.

The power of Scrolls

Probably the most powerful thing in the game are scrolls. Stocking enough of them, having Arcane Acuity icon bg3Arcane Acuity, can allow you to cast high-level spells like Hold Monster icon bg3Hold Monster with any character. As this build does not get access to level 5 or 6 spells, this is the only way that you can get these spells.

For example, to further enhance control capabilities, you can use Scroll of Hold Monster icon bg3Scroll of Hold Monster. To offer support Scroll of Globe of Invulnerability icon bg3Scroll of Globe of Invulnerability or if you want to destroy foes outright, spamming Scroll of Chain Lightning icon bg3Scroll of Chain Lightning. This is a very dirty gameplay option, but the results are easy to reach.

Bhaalist Armor and Aura of Murder

The build can get a huge damage boost in Act 3 with Bhaalist Armour icon bg3Bhaalist Armour. It has a unique effect - Aura Of Murder icon passive feature bg3Aura Of Murder, which doubles piercing damage. This is what makes weapons like Crimson Mischief icon bg3Crimson Mischief, Titanstring Bow icon bg3Titanstring Bow, etc. especially powerful.

The goal is to stand close to the enemies so that the Aura Of Murder icon bg3Aura Of Murder takes effect. Once that happens, both your and ally attacks will inflict double damage. The aura also negates the piercing resistance, so you can do normal damage against enemies that otherwise would receive half of it.

One caveat: if you are a ranged user and have Bhaalist Armour icon bg3Bhaalist Armour equipped, Aura Of Murder icon bg3Aura Of Murder activates in a 3-meter radius. This can be tricky, as you will want to stay a bit further to not get Threatened icon bg3Threatened (which reduces your attack rolls), but close enough that the aura still works. So the positioning can be tricky.

Combat Tactics and Rotation

Levels 8-10×
Levels 11-12×
+ Add tab

If you obtained Jaheira in Act 2, here is the combat approach that I recommend for the last parts of the Act:

  • If you can start with a spell outside of combat, otherwise at the start of the turn. My recommendations - Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth, Web icon bg3Web. After that use Action Surge icon bg3Action Surge to follow up with melee attacks.
  • If you have Helmet of Arcane Acuity icon bg3Helmet of Arcane Acuity use normal attacks to build Spell Save DC. You can use Action Surge icon bg3Action Surge to cast a spell like Hold Person icon bg3Hold Person, to disable a specific target.
  • I would use the bonus action for any spells or just offhand attack, for a slight damage boost.
  • Battle Master manoeuvres are really important. Use Pushing Attack icon bg3Pushing Attack to force enemies into Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth. Disarming Attack icon bg3Disarming Attack is great for enemies with weapons, greatly weakening them. Menacing Attack icon bg3Menacing Attack is perfect to slow down foes and force them to stay in place. Battle Master is a really powerful controller if used correctly.

Level 3 spells do offer a bit stronger combat approach

  • Call Lightning icon bg3Call Lightning or Lightning Bolt icon bg3Lightning Bolt can be used on Wet icon bg3Wet targets to inflict significant damage
  • Sleet Storm icon bg3Sleet Storm is a very powerful control spell, but don't walk into it, as it will break Concentration icon bg3Concentration, stay outside of its field.
  • Plant Growth icon bg3Plant Growth is a free non-concentration spell, to greatly slow down enemies. It's an excellent option to pair with Hunger of Hadar icon bg3Hunger of Hadar if you have Lore Bard or Warlock in the party.

Here with additional gear options, the build gains further potential:

  • With Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain icon bg3Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain you can freely move on various terrains, which allows you to be much more agile in combat
  • Always summon Conjure Woodland Being icon bg3Conjure Woodland Being and use it's Spike Growth icon bg3Spike Growth. It's a free control spell to cover a large area
  • If you take Band of the Mystic Scoundrel icon bg3Band of the Mystic Scoundrel you open up more opportunities to apply control spells. Moreover, if you have Helmet of Arcane Acuity icon bg3Helmet of Arcane Acuity, hit a few times, apply spell like Confusion icon bg3Confusion, Hypnotic Pattern icon bg3Hypnotic Pattern, Hold Person icon bg3Hold Person and the encounter will be halfway done.
  • Action Surge icon bg3Action Surge is what will allow you to mix both spells and weapon attacks. Of course, you want those, as they will deal significant damage, especially once you have Bhaalist Armour icon bg3Bhaalist Armour.
  • Ice Storm icon bg3Ice Storm is a really cheap and great spell to make ice surfaces, and give a chance for enemies to slip and become Prone icon bg3Prone

Maximizing the Build - Abilities, Illithid, Consumables

In this section, I would like to dedicate to various optimizations that you can do to further empower your build. Various things like Illithid Powers and consumables can make the build from powerful to totally overpowered, trivializing the hardest game encounters

Maximizing Ability Scores

So, ability scores play an important role in overall build performance. They do help get higher modifiers to attack rolls, Saving Throw icon bg3Saving Throw, dialogue checks, and others. Let's look at how we can reach maximum values that are relevant to the Jaheira Build:

Illithid Powers

Sadly, Jaheira cannot use Illithid powers

Potions, Elixirs and Consumables

Let's take a look at what consumables you can use to further empower the build.

Potions

These are general consumables, and most of them are activated for a few turns. Potions are separate from Elixirs and can be active together.

Consumable Description
Potion of Speed icon bg3Potion of Speed You can chug this potion before combat, or during combat using a bonus action. It gives another action point that gives an additional attack or one more spell cast. Sadly, its duration is only 3 turns.
Potion of Animal Speaking icon bg3Potion of Animal Speaking Although not something powerful, it is worth stocking up and saving a spell slot.
Potion of Invisibility icon bg3Potion of Invisibility Can be used to get a perfect position before the encounter starts. It can also help trigger Surprised icon bg3Surprised mechanic, so that enemies skip their turn. In other situations, you can use it to run away if needed.
Terazul icon bg3Terazul Gives Hastened icon condition bg3Hastened and stacks with other sources of it. This is a late-game consumable.

Coatings

These are applied directly on weapons, and usually have a 10-turn duration:

Consumable Description
Oil of Accuracy icon bg3Oil of Accuracy The attack roll bonus is pretty good, which improves your chances of hitting.
Diluted Oil of Sharpness icon bg3Diluted Oil of Sharpness Helps with attack and damage rolls.
Crawler Mucus icon bg3Crawler Mucus or Karabasan's Poison icon bg3Karabasan's Poison This is a very powerful debuff that applies Paralysed icon bg3Paralysed on an enemy if they fail a Saving Throw icon bg3Saving Throw. This then guarantees critical hits.
Drow Poison icon bg3Drow Poison Has a chance to put an enemy to Sleeping icon bg3Sleeping condition, giving a guaranteed critical hit option.

Elixirs

Be sure to activate them before combat, as otherwise, you will need to use a Bonus Action.

Remember to activate one elixir after each Long Rest. These are found plentifully throughout the game, so don't save them too much.
Consumable Description
Elixir of Bloodlust icon bg3Elixir of Bloodlust The elixir gives an easy option to get an additional action point - just kill a foe. This can then be used to attack one more time or cast a full spell.
Elixir of The Colossus icon bg3Elixir of The Colossus Provides bonus damage of 1d4 and some other good bonuses. The Advantage icon bg3Advantage of Strength check is great for Shove icon bg3Shove and making sure enemies fall from cliffs
Elixir of Vigilance icon bg3Elixir of Vigilance For some encounters, you will want to go first. This elixir will ensure that it overcomes even Surprised icon condition bg3Surprised mechanics.
Elixir of Heroism icon bg3Elixir of Heroism Boosts attack rolls by 1d4; this is a good boost to increase the likelihood of landing attacks.
Elixir of Hill Giant Strength icon bg3Elixir of Hill Giant Strength Can be used as an option to dump Strength and maximize other stats. Especially in the early game, 21 Strength with Elixir of Hill Giant Strength icon bg3Elixir of Hill Giant Strength is big upgrade for your hit chance. Later, from level 9 you can buy Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength icon bg3Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength for a fixed 27 Strength.
Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength icon bg3Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength

Conclusion and Credits

Thank you for reading the Jaheira build for Baldur's Gate 3. Although she joins you quite late in the game, the build will shine easily with all the gear you can get, and reflect her split between being a nature lover and a leader of the Harpers.

Big thanks to Machina, for sharing ideas and combinations to improve the build and its setups. he also did a full review, for which I am extremely thankful

Cheers!
