Twisting Branch - The Overpowered Magic Club - Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3)
Contents
All necessary things
To obtain the
Twisting Branch you'll need the
Conjure Woodland Being spell, good reflex or some type expendable weapon.
- Level 7 of Druid, any subclass and the spell
Conjure Woodland Being. - The Dryad from
Conjure Woodland Being and Wood Woad from
Fallen Lover spell (Dryad's spell). - Any "useless" magic weapon that you can spare.
Step by step instruction
PC
- Summon the Dryad from
Conjure Woodland Being. - Take control of the Dryad and summon the Wood Woad from
Fallen Lover. - Take control of the Wood Woad and enter it's inventory.
- Press the "Preview" or the "Eye" icon of the Wood Woad, it should show it's inventory and items for a split second.
- You have to press the Preview/Eye and take control the item from the Wood Woad's inventory slot. If you fail, repeat step 4.
- If you successfully gained control of the item, hold and drag it to your or your companion's equipment slot.
- You can obtain a second
Twisting Branch by repeating this process or using the duplication glitch
Console
- Summon the Dryad from
Conjure Woodland Being. - Take control of the Dryad and summon the Wood Woad from
Fallen Lover. - Take control of the Wood Woad.
- Drop and weapon you won't use. This weapon has to be "magical" and have the same properties as to feeding Gale and sedating his
Arcane Hunger. If it's a weapon outside this "property list", this exploit won't work. - If you did the step 4 correctly, you should have an option to "Consume" the weapon, make the Wood Woad consume it.
- If you did both step 4 and 5 correctly the weapon should disappear; use
Hide and pickpocket the Wood Woad. - You can obtain a second
Twisting Branch by repeating this process or using the duplication glitch
What does it do ?
The weapon's passive -
Magic Club adds a 3d4 Bludgeoning Damage to your melee attacks/spell attack using attack rolls - that means your
Ki Resonation: Punch,
Divine Smite,
Booming Blade,
Shocking Grasp, normal attacks or even some ranged spells like
Scorching Ray,
Eldritch Blast,
Fire Bolt; Those ranged spells need an anchor which are
Daredevil Gloves because of their
Daredevil Proximity passive. You can find that pair of gloves by talking to
A'jak'nir Jeera and purchase them.
The 3d4 Bludgeoning Damage is like a separate instance of damage - meaning many damage riders/damage riders as source like
Callous Glow Ring,
Horns of the Berserker,
Psionic Overload,
Agonising Blast will add their damage on top of the baseline 3d4 damage of the club. For example:
Melee/unarmed strikes

In this image I used an Action attack and Bonus Action attack with:
- a pair of
Twisting Branch dealing a passive 17 damage
The Speedy Lightfeet adding
Lightning Charges dealing passive 2 damage
Psionic Overload adding 1d4 psychic damage to attacks dealing 7 damage- a pair of
Callous Glow Ring thanks to duplication glitch adding 4 Radiant damage for a total of 8; yes, they stack.
As mentioned before you can use unarmed strikes - be it
Flurry of Blows,
Fangs of the Fire Snake,
Ki Resonation: Punch, normal attacks like
Main Hand Attack,
Off-Hand Attack (Melee), unique class attacks like
Whirlwind Attack from Hunter Ranger,
Shadow Strike from Shadow Monk and many more.
Spells
For your majority of spells a MUST HAVE is the pair of
Daredevil Gloves, important note is that you must be
Threatened and you must have the
Daredevil Proximity passive on.

Things used:
- a pair of
Twisting Branch
The Speedy Lightfeet - a pair of
Callous Glow Ring thanks to duplication glitch
Daredevil Gloves- Upcasted
Scorching Ray
Hexblade's Curse from level 2 Hexblade Warlock- 10 Evocation Wizard feature -
Empowered Evocation
Magic Club does NOT work on spells that use a saving throw or that have a guaranteed hit like
Fireball or
Magic Missile
Difficulty Difference
The screens you can see are all made on the Honor Mode difficulty. The difference between Honor Mode and difficulties below it, is that Honor Mode uses a different system compared to other game modes. This means that some skills, passives and abilities will work a lot more often on Tactician/Balanced/Explorer than Honor.
For example;
Phalar Aluve's ability
Phalar Aluve: Shriek is a damage rider on lower difficulties whereas on the hardest difficulty it's just a damage jockey. What does it mean ? It means that the
Phalar Aluve: Shriek will have a lot more stacking damage on top of it's baseline 1d4 Thunder damage while on Honor it will just add a base 1d4 Thunder damage.
Tactician

Honor

Conclusions
The
Twisting Branch is a really overpowered weapon and the list of effects that will stack on top of it's damage is really long. For any questions of what will work, what won't work and any issues I heavily urge to ask in the comments. I thank you if you stayed until the very end.
