This post covers Gauss for Warframe. Gauss is considered to be one of the most fun characters in the game, while being an absolute powerhouse that can deal with most content. This guide will feature a Gauss build, approved by an 4-years Gauss main, alternate mod options and how to use this build.

Gauss Overview

Here's the example of Gauss gameplay. Keep his second and fourth ability online, use first ability to reposition and use third to buff his weapons and deleting hordes of enemies, he will handle the rest.

Why should you try Gauss?

He's one of the most versitale Warframes in the game.
He can be played as weapon buffer, nuke, tank, speedster.
He's one of the fastest characters in the game.

How to get Gauss?

Normal Gauss can be obtained from Disruption mission on Sedna, Kappa. Complete each wave of the mission perfectly and from third wave onward you'll have a 7,84% chance of getting one of three Gauss components each wave after, while his blueprint is purchasable in the Store.

Gauss Prime can be farmed through relic system or purchased from other players. For newer players, that means he needs to be traded from other players, since his relics are currently off-limit. If you're planning to buy the frame, use a website called warframe.market, since it offers multiple offers so player can recognize if he's being scammed. DO NOT USE TRADE CHAT IN GAME!

How does Gauss work?

Ability Description

Passive

Gauss revolves around his battery, which status can be seen in the bottom-right corner of the screen. It gathers energy while moving and using abilities. His passive accelerates Shield recharge delay and rate based on battery level.

Mach Rush

Tap it to dash, hold it to run continuously. Speed at which Gauss runs, scales with Sprint Speed and Movement Speed, so his high speed can be amplified even further. It also charges his battery. When you collide into a wall or object, Gauss knock backs and deals damage to nearby enemies.

Kinetic Plating

While active, Gauss drains 1% of his battery every second and gains DMG Reduction equal to his battery state (which can get to 100%, meaning full immunity, but only in his 4th ability, Redline) and gain immunity Stagger, Knockback, Heat, Cold and Blast statuses. It also converts up to 5% of incoming DMG into Energy.

Thermal Sunder

Tap to deal Cold DMG to enemies nearby and charge battery by 10%. Hold it to deal Heat DMG and lower the battery by 10%. Dealing mixed DMG with this ability create a Blast status, which can turn a battlefield with many enemies into one, big nuke.
During his 4th ability, Redline, Cold DMG instantly freezes, Heat deals double DMG, and combining them strips enemy Armor. This effect scales with Ability Strength.

Redline

Using it grants him massive bonus Fire Rate, melee Attack Speed, Reload Speed and Casting Speed while draining his battery by 2% every second. It doesn't provide Movement Speed. While over 80% of his battery, Gauss will zap enemies nearby. At 100%, battery locks itself until Redline is over.

Build

Here's the build:
Gauss Main Build

In Aura and Eximus slots we have Sprint Speed bonuses. It's mainly for fun, however you can change Aura to Corrosive Projection and Eximus slot to Cunning Drift. Next we focus on Duration and Range, for Redline and Thermal Sunder respectively. Equilibrium, Streamline and Primed Flow are for Energy economy. Archon Vitality is only for its secondary effect, which doubles Heat status procs. If you lack Mod space, you can run the mod at Rank 0. Thermal Transfer and Arcane Hot Shot is for weapon buffing. If you need more survivability, consider swapping Augur Reach for Redirection.

There isn't any Helminth ability infused. Gauss kit by itself works too well to swap out anything.

This build also features 5 Tauforged Archon Shards- 2 Duration, 2 Casting Speed, 1 Parkour Velocity. They are completely optional.

It's sugested to keep around 200% Duration in this build. While in Redline, the more Duration you have, the harder it is to reach 100%.

How to use it?

When you load into a mission, cast Redline and Kinetic Plating first. Run around, use Mach Rush to generate energy for your battery. Gauss loves movement so if you can, keep on moving. Cast Heat DMG Thermal Sunder 3-4 times when you want to kill enemies and also to buff your weapons, thanks to Thermal Transfer and Arcane Hot Shot. If they survived, cast Cold DMG Thermal Sunder and watch enemies dissapear. If they didn't, your weapons should be buffed enough to deal with the rest.

One thing to note is "Invert Tap/Hold" option. It was mentioned in Abilities section of this guide, that when you tap his 3rd ability, you apply Cold Status. This build needs Heat DMG more than Cold DMG, so to make it more accessible, in the Settings search for "Invert Tap/Hold" and invert it for Gauss. That way you can deal Heat DMG with tapping the "3" button. You will still need to hold it, if you want to nuke enemies with Blast DMG.

Weapons

Gauss can run (pun intended) any weapon and companion, since his 4th ability makes every weapon overpowered, and companions should be a support, which Gauss doesn't need, but here are some recommendations to make the most of him:

Primary Weapons:

Item Description

Acceltra Prime

Main Gauss weapon, strong and reliable in his hands

Felarx

Amazing DMG, however it struggles with Reload Speed and Fire Rate, which Gauss can compensate

Kuva Hek

Amazing weapon, that loves Reload Speed

Secondary Weapons:

Item Description

Akarius Prime

Main Gauss weapon, that really benefits him thanks to his Kinetic Plating

Dual Toxocyst Incarnon

Top tier weapons that benefits from Fire Rate boosts

Twin Kohmak

Personal favourite, it packs a punch if you fire with it long enough

Melee Weapons:

Item Description

Okina Prime Incarnon

Used mainly for its Incarnon bonus passive, which grants Movement Speed

Dual Ichor Incarnon

Fast-hitting Dual Swords with ability to delete entire room due to his Incarnon ability

Conclusion

Gauss is easily one of the most complete and satisfying Warframes in the game. Whether you want to nuke entire rooms, sprint through missions, or turn sluggish weapons into rapid-fire machines, he delivers on every front. Take him for a run—you won't regret it!

Happy hunting!
