Here's an example how Lavos works. With correct setup every option is deadly for enemies. Inflict as many statuses as possible, then go crazy with primary, secondary, melee, abilities, companion, you name it.

How to get Lavos?

Lavos can be obtained on Deimos from Father with Entrati standing. You'll need Rank 3 - Associate and 20,000 Standing, 5,000 for each component and blueprint.

Lavos Prime can be farmed through relic system or purchased from other players. If you're planning to buy the frame, use a website called warframe.market, since it offers multiple offers so player can recognize if he's being scammed. DO NOT USE TRADE CHAT IN GAME! 

How does Lavos work?

Here's the build:

In the Aura slot we have Growing Power to boost Ability Strength upon applying status effects, paired with Cunning Drift in the Eximus slot for extra Range and Slide Friction reduction. Range is pushed up to 250% using Overextended and Stretch, expanding the radius of elemental abilities like Ophidian Bite and Catalyze. To offset the Strength penalty from Overextended, Blind Rage and Umbral Intensify elevate Ability Strength to 265%, maximizing damage and status output.

Survivability is heavily catered for through the Umbral Set (Umbral Vitality and Umbral Fiber along with Intensify) combined with Adaptation, building massive health and armor pools that synergize with Lavos's healing. Valence Formation adds elemental damage to weapons upon casting abilities, further synergizing with status setups. For Arcanes, Arcane Persistence and Arcane Bellicose provide passive defense and offensive stat scaling.

This build features 5 Archon Shards: 2 Health, 2 Corrosive Status cap increase+1 and 1 Casting Speed. 2 for Corrosive are really needed, since you won't strip enemy armor completely without it. Casting Speed and Health Shards are optional, however they are nice to have. 

This build features triple Umbral Mods, Blind Rage and a changed polatiry on Aura Slot, which can be an overkill, so if you want to, feel free to drop Blind Rage and Exilus Slot if you feel like its too much of mod capacity. 

How to use it?

Make sure to cast imbued ability once every 15 seconds. With most loadouts, abilities will be more survival based, except Catalyze. Use Ophidian Bite ability to recover health and use imbued ability for Valence Formation. Use Vial Rush to dash through enemies and freeze them. Transmutation Probe is mainly for decreasing cooldowns. It also changes any Orb into Status Immunity for Lavos, which is a nice bonus. Catalyze is an ability that requires some preparation, but it can deal with hordes of enemies at ease. If you don't wanna prime enemies with Statuses, you can use it just as a Heat primer.

Lavos is the master of elements, so it's important to know which status is good for certain abilities in terms of application, intensity and effectiveness. Here's the cheat sheat of what you can use on which ability:

Important thing about Lavos, that many Lavos mains reccomend, is "Invert Tap/Hold" option. In order to imbue elements for your abilities fast, it's recommended to swap tap/hold abilites for Lavos. That way you can Tap->Tap->Hold, rather than Hold->Hold->Tap. In the Settings search for "Invert Tap/Hold" and invert it for Lavos.

Weapons/companions

Interactions between Lavos and some weapons are pure chemistry (pun intended). He's the only frame that can guarantee certain interactions and can elevate weapons in terms of DPS. Here are some examples:
