Contents
Caliban Overview
Here's an example of Caliban gameplay. Keep his summons with Nourish active. With spamming his 1st ability, Razor Gyre, there isn't much time to use any weapon. This ability combined with his other abilites can easily defeat enemies without any issue.
Caliban Pros/Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Strong and unique nuke | Very repetetive gameplay |
| Amazing Shield and Energy economy | Summons have horrible AI |
| Can autoplay at lower levels |
How to get Caliban?
Caliban can be obtained from Narmer bounties after the New War quest. Before you run any, make sure that component that you need is in the drop table. Each component rotates every 2,5 hours. Caliban blueprint can be bought in the Store.
Caliban Prime can be farmed through relic system or purchased from other players. If you're planning to buy the frame, use a website called warframe.market, since it offers multiple offers so player can recognize if he's being scammed. DO NOT USE TRADE CHAT IN GAME!
How does Caliban work?
Caliban is the only Warframe that deals Tau DMG. There is his Prime weapon, Venato Prime, that also deals Tau DMG, however Caliban can inflict Tau DMG much easier. Tau Status applies Status Chance vulnerability.
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Passive | Gain resistance to DMG to type of DMG that you currently recieve, up to 50%. |
|
Razor Gyre |
Caliban launches himself rotating at enemies. Each enemy hit will restore his Shields and part of Energy used to cast the ability. Hit 4 enemies and ability will be fully refunded. Hit 5 or more enemies, and this becomes an Energy regenerating ability. |
|
Sentient Wrath |
Caliban stomps in the ground, making every enemy around him float in the air, take Tau DMG and make them more vulnerable to DMG. |
|
Lethal Progeny |
His bread and butter. Tap to cycle between 3 of his summons- Conculysts, Ortholysts and Summulysts. Hold to summon. Conculysts (3 of them) focus on close combat and cast Fusion Strike with Caliban. Ortholysts (3 of them) are stationary ranged units that fire Tau DMG missles. Summulyst (1) summons Choralysts (6) that take away enemy focus off Caliban. Each summon attack restores Shields. |
|
Fusion Strike |
Caliban channels beam of energy in front of him to deal Tau DMG to enemies and stripping their Armor. Using this ability leaves a sphere that Armor strips enemy when entered. |
|
Nourish (Helminth) |
Gives Energy Multipiler, applies Viral weapon bonus DMG and taking DMG creates a wave that inflicts a Viral Status proc. It also applies to his summons. |
Build
Here's the build:

In the Aura slot we have Summoner's Wrath to empower summoned companions and minions, while the Eximus slot remains empty. If you want to, use Cunning Drift. Range is brought up to 175% using Stretch and Augur Reach to increase ability coverage, while Primed Continuity keeps your Duration at a solid 120% to counteract the penalty from Transient Fortitude. This build can use Archon Stretch to help with energy, thanks to Razor Mortar.
Ability Strength is heavily prioritized, pushing up to 314% through the combination of Blind Rage, Transient Fortitude, and Umbral Intensify. Razor Mortar gives Electric DMG and Fire Rate for Ortholysts. Also makes them focus on enemies gathered with Razor Gyre. Survivability relies on a massive shield via Primed Redirection, his passive and Razor Gyre. For Arcanes, Molt Augmented ramps up your Strength even higher as you secure kills, while Arcane Camisado gives even more Ability Strength.
This build also features 5 Tauforged Archon Shards- 2 Strength, 2 Energy, 1 Casting Speed. 2 Energy are mandatory, the rest is optional, however with ability spamming, some Casting Speed will speed up gameplay.
How to use it?
Use Lethal Progeny with Ortholysts and then Nourish. After that user Razor Gyre to group enemies and obliterate them and buff your summons. Use Fusion Strike if there's an enemy with Armor or have any trouble with one-shotting them. If possible, don't spam abilities, to maximize Arcane Camisado effect. You can spam Razor Gyre, if you need Energy, Shields and there are enough enemies to get full bonus from this cast alone.
Weapons/companions
Calibans main DMG are his summons, however his abilites and his unique status can be used to increase his weapons DMG. Any beam weapon and/or status weapon can make the most out of his kit. Here are the recommendations for his weapons:
Primary:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
|
Boar Prime Incarnon |
Strong shotgun that really benefits from any Status infliction chance. Its Incarnon form fires a beam with hugh Status chance. |
|
Torid Incarnon |
The best weapon in the game. Its Incarnon mode DMG is even more amplified thanks to increased Status infliction chance from Tau DMG. |
Secondary:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
|
Grimoire |
Utility weapon that can boost one of Warframe stats. Perfect for Augur Mod Set, that give Shields while using Energy. |
|
Ocucor |
Sentient weapon that gets big power spike if it kills one enemy. Can inflict many Statuses due to it being a beam weapon. |
Melee:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
|
Praedos |
Used mainly for its Incarnon bonus passive, which grants Parkour Velocity. |
Companion:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
|
Nautilus Prime |
Great companion with grouping ability. Paired with Verglas Prime can delete groups of enemies while Caliban buffs the DMG. |
Conclusion
Caliban Prime isn't picked much, however he's a Warframe that can simplify many missions. Whether you want to click 3 abilities and take it easy, play a fun tank with debuffing capabilites, he delivers on every front. Take him for a spin (pun intended)—he will become the star of your roster!
