Lucky Shades - Locations
You will need to get access to Caesar's Legion Safehouse close to Nipton. The Shades are on the right bed.
For this to happen you need to have a "Liked" reputation with the Legion. This is fairly easy and doing Legion quests or activities will increase it. The Key will be awarded by Lucius at The Fort.
What if you have negative relations with the Legion? It can be reset at a certain stage in the main story. This happens once you confront Benny (a guy with the checkered suit) and get an invitation to Caesar's Legion.
The difficult part is if you wish to have positive relations with NCR while obtaining the shades. Here are a few options:
Collect NCR Dog Tags
Although this is a bit tedious there are multiple ways to do this:
- Kill random NCR Troopers without being seen in stealth (this will not incur any infamy with them)
- Find some dead NCR troopers in Outer Vegas, south and west of Camp McCarran. They will constantly fight Fiends and other raiders.
- You will find some of the troops dead or fighting close to Legion Raid Camp
Bring the Dog Tags to Aurelius of Phoenix at Cottonwood Cove
The Finger of Suspicion quest
If you did not kill Vulpes in Nipton, you will encounter him at The Fort, following the main quest. Do his quest - The Finger of Suspicion, that awards sufficient reputation and does not incur negative infamy with NCR
Eye for an Eye
Another quest, where NCR asks you to bug Legion in Cottonwood Cove. You could tell Legion about the bug and give false intel to NCR after.
Lucky Shades - Notes
They are a perfect choice for builds that rely on critical chance. This also saves on SPECIAL attribute points to be used elsewhere.
Discussion
If you're okay with minor glitches, you can talk with Decanus Severas in Cottonwood Cove, ask about the NCR, then offer to teach him how to disarm landmines with Explosives 50. This is repeatable infinitely and gets you Legion fame without decreasing it with the NCR.
Nice! Cool strategy
