Should I be sharpening my weapon all the time? - Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Hello,

I am new to Monster Hunter World and to the whole franchise. I would like to ask about sharpening mechanic. Should I be using it? Well of course but how often? I see that some of the weapons lose green sharpness faster than others.
