General Skill recommendations
Here is a list of skills that are recommended to use with Charge Blade in Monster Hutner Rise. Of course, they are also situational, because for example with Elemental Charge Blade you would not use Artillery skill.
- Load Shells (Non-Condensed Spinning Slash builds) - Having level 2 will allow you to charge full phials with just yellow phial color. Replaces Focus.
- Artillery (Impact Phial builds with Amped Elemental Discharges) - boosts phial damage
- Rapid Morph - Faster Axe to charge blade -> Charge Blade to Axe switching
- Weakness Exploit (WE) - Increases affinity to weak spots, can be maximized to 50%
- Critical Boost - boosts critical hits
- Attack Boost - Boosts physical attacks and phial damage
- Elemental damage boost (like Frost Jewel Lv 1, Blaze Jewel Lv 1, etc.)
- Critical Eye - increases the chance
- Guard - usually you would start with level 1, to be able to use Amped Elemental discharge after guard point
- Offensive Guard - best utilized in builds that concentrate on Guard Point and Counter Peak Performance
Low Rank Builds
Throughout the Monster Hunter Rise story, you should use Impact Phial Charge blades. They are easily accessible and you get many relevant skills.
Early Low Rank - Village Quests 1 - 3 stars
This is your intro to the Monster Hunter Rise game. I suggest spending some time getting used to the weapon and practicing charge blade in Training Area.
Weapon
A good Charge blade will be available to you from the first large monster: Great Izuchi. It will give you green sharpness. This is great because your weapon attacks will not bounce as often
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Wind Thief Sickle I | Affinity Boost I | Any |
Armors
You would want to get Rhenoplos Braces as soon as possible as they will increase your Impact phial damage. Moreover, Ingot Greaves will lead you through the whole Low Rank
I suggest upgrading these two items mentioned above. This will increase your defense and allow you to push through the whole Low Rank.
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Izuchi Helm | Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Izuchi Mail | Attack Boost Lv 1 |
Rhenoplos Braces | Artillery Lv 1 |
Izuchi Coil | Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Ingot Greaves | Attack Boost Lv 1 Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Hunter Greaves can be used until you get Ingot Greaves.
Mid to End of Low Rank - Village Quests 4 - 6 stars
This is the part of Monster Hunter Rise, where it opens up, you will encounter new monsters with widely different mechanics
Weapon
There are some interesting Charge blades available at this time. However, Regas Hyper is easily accessible, and you do not need to farm any specific monster for it.
Then you are free to upgrade it to Elite Blade I after you fight Zinogre.
Of course, an interesting alternative is Hidden Arsenal I charge blade, with 30% affinity. For which you need to fight Nargacuga.
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Regas Hyper with an upgrade to Elite Blade I | Affinity Boost I | Any |
Armors
You will still keep Rhenoplos Braces and Ingot Greaves. As you can see some better gear is introduced that allows adding better skills.
Moreover, you can start melding talismans. Try to get Wirebug Whisperer for a longer third wirebug duration.
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Zinogre Helm | Latent Power Lv 1 Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Nargacuga Mail |
Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Rhenoplos Braces | Artillery Lv 1 |
Anjanath Coil | Attack Boost Lv 2 |
Ingot Greaves | Attack Boost Lv 1 Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Talisman | Wirebug Whisperer Lv 1 |
High Rank: HR 4 - 6
Here I also recommend using Impact Phial Charge Blade. You would spend too much time making elemental phial blade for each encounter. Moreover, you would also need to farm appropriate armors for each elemental charge blade
Weapon
Elite Blade II is easily accessible similar alternative would be the Bone Blade II charge blade. However, due to not having blue sharpness it is inferior.
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Kaiser Blade | Attack Boost III | Any skill |
Armors
The usual items are back. Rhenoplos Braces S and Ingot Greaves S provide great damage boosts and increased affinity rate.
Regarding the belt, you should only go for Skalda Elytra S armor if you have Almudron Plate material. However, it is hard to get it and you can just go for Baggi Coil
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Izuchi Helm S | Critical Eye Lv 1 |
Izuchi Mail S |
Critical Eye Lv 2 Recovery Speed Lv 1 |
Rhenoplos Braces S | Artillery Lv 2 |
Skalda Elytra S / Spio Elytra S | Weakness Exploit Lv 2 |
Ingot Greaves S | Attack Boost Lv 2 Critical Eye Lv 2 |
Talisman | Weakness Exploit Lv 1 (more damage) Wirebug Whisperer Lv 1 |
High Rank: HR 6 - 7
Weapon
Feel free to use Kaiser Blade. However, once you fight Nargacuga and Magnamalo get Scream in the Night. It will give White Sharpness, 40% affinity and good rampage skills.
Not only that it is also good till the HR 100.
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Scream in the Night | Attack Boost III | Any skill |
Armors
You can switch to Almudron Helm S helmet once you get it. It will be a part of many endgame builds later on.
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Zinogre Helm S | Latent Power Lv 1 Weakness Exploit Lv 1 |
Zinogre Mail S |
Latent Power Lv 1 Weakness Exploit Lv 1 |
Rhenoplos Braces S | Artillery Lv 2 |
Anjanath Coil S |
Attack Boost Lv 2 |
Golden Hakama | Critical Boost Lv 2 Latent Power Lv 1 |
Talisman | Weakness Exploit Lv 1 |
At this point in the game, I recommend getting Weakness Exploit Talisman.
High Rank: HR 8 - 40
From here on, you should start getting decent decorations. Use them to greatly beef up the charge blade build.
Impact Charge blade build
This build's purpose is to use the impact phials for maximum damage. The source of that is mostly Ultra Element Discharge, Condense Element Slash or Axe Hopper. This is your choice.
Weapons
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Scream in the Night | Attack Boost III | Any skill |
Armors
At HR 8 you can fight Bazelgeuse. This Large Monster will provide two critical equipment pieces to improve the build
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Almudron Helm S | Rapid Morph Lv 2 |
Vaik Mail S |
- |
Bazelgeuse Braces | Load Shells Lv 1 Guard Up Lv 1 |
Anjanath Coil S |
Attack Boost Lv 2 |
Bazelgeuse Greaves | Artillery Lv 2 Guard Lv 1 |
Talismans and decorations
Generally, the most offensive option is the best, like Weakness Exploit. However, it also depends on your skill and what talismans you have.
So feel free to check what you have and adjust the decorations to your liking
Talisman skills + slots | Decorations | Notes |
---|---|---|
Wirebug Whisperer 2 |
Attack Jewel 2 x2 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Critical Jewel 2 x1 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Artillery Jewel 2 x1 |
In case you land Wirebug Whisperer it is also a decent option, that can allow you to use Silkbind skills more often. |
Guard 2 |
Attack Jewel 2 x2 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Critical Jewel 2 x1 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Artillery Jewel 2 x1 |
A defensive option where you are more effective with your shield and can use UED faster. |
Weakness Exploit 1 |
Attack Jewel 2 x2 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x2 Critical Jewel 2 x2 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Artillery Jewel 2 x1 |
This option must be readily available if you melded for Weakness Exploit. |
Any skill |
Attack Jewel 2 x2 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Critical Jewel 2 x3 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Artillery Jewel 2 x1 |
This is I think the optimal solution as you should try getting this type of talisman at least once. |
Spinning Axe Build
These builds are perfect for those that want to use Condensed Spinning Slash Switch Skill. This type of build concentrates on using Axe mode.
You will want to utilize the Morph skill so that you could enter the Savage Axe mode as soon as possible.
Weapon
Scream in The Night complements this build extremely well. The white sharpness will help immensely. Moreover, to keep white sharpness through the fight hunter should get Mastery jewel 2
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Scream in the Night | Attack Boost III | Any skill |
Armors
You do not get much affinity with equipment, only from Weakness Exploit. However, it will be boosted with Tenderzier Jewels
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Almudron Helm S | Rapid Morph Lv 2 |
Vaik Mail S |
- |
Rathalos Braces S | Attack Boost Lv 2 |
Anjanath Coil S |
Attack Boost Lv 2 |
Ingot Greaves S | Attack Boost Lv 2 Critical Eye Lv 2 |
Talismans and Decorations
This charge blade build tears through sharpness extremely fast due to Spinning Axe. We will try to complement this weakness to maximize the build utility and damage.
Moreover, we can easily reach 100% affinity making... you guessed it Mastery Jewel 2 mandatory.
Talisman skills + slots | Decorations | Notes |
---|---|---|
Guard 1 |
Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Critical Jewel 2 x1 |
This is a more defensive approach giving a chance to defend against the monster attack |
Any skill |
Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Critical Jewel 2 x3 |
This option allows to have 100 affinity and ensures white sharpness for a long time. |
Weakness Exploit 1 |
Tenderizer Jewel 2 x2 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Critical Jewel 2 x3 |
The budget option for those that have this talisman. |
High Rank: HR 40 - 99
Generally, the builds from the HR 8-40 section continue to work perfectly. However, you can still try this one below
Tigrex Impact Charge Blade Build
This build maximizes the phial damage by having higher raw from Tigrex Blade. You will need to constantly use Ultimate Element Discharge or Element Discharge moves to utilize this.
Weapons
This is an extremely powerful charge blade that will greatly boost Impact phial damage
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Tigrex Blade | Attack Boost III Silkbind Boost (if upgrading from Ore Tree and using Axe Hopper) |
Counter Peak Performance (for UED) or Axe Hopper |
Armors
We include Bazelgeuse Helm and this way the charge blade build gets Artillery Lv 3
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Bazelgeuse Helm | Artillery Lv 1 Guard Lv 1 |
Vaik Mail S | - |
Bazelgeuse Braces | Load Shells Lv 1 Guard Up Lv 1 |
Anjanath Coil S | Attack Boost Lv 2 |
Bazelgeuse Greaves | Artillery Lv 2 Guard Lv 1 |
Talismans and Decorations
Talisman skills + slots | Decorations | Notes |
---|---|---|
Attack Boost 2 |
Attack Jewel 2 x2 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Sharp Jewel 2 x2 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
This is a truly powerful option enabling us to have Attack Boost Lv6 in total. This way phial damage will be extremely high |
Any skill |
Attack Jewel 2 x3 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x3 Sharp Jewel 2 x2 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
The optimal all-around option |
Weakness Exploit 1 |
Attack Jewel 2 x3 Tenderizer Jewel 2 x2 Sharp Jewel 2 x2 Magazine Jewel 2 x1 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
The budget option of this charge blade build. The Sharp Jewel 2 allows to safely utilize the white sharpness for 60 seconds. |
Endgame: High Rank 100+ (patch 3.0)
For non-Dragonheart builds, you can check the previous sections. They still hold well and you do not need to be masochist with yourself for 80% health:
- HR 8-40
- HR 40-99
Dragonheart build Spinning Axe
This build works the best with Spinning Axe mode. Unfortunately for effective AED spam, you would need a large decoration investment into Magazine and Artillery
Weapons
Weapon | Rampage Skills | Switch Skills |
---|---|---|
Scream in the Night | Attack Boost III | Any skill |
Armors
With the Valstrax armors unlocked you will be able to make some scary builds. Concentrating purely on offense
Item | Skills |
---|---|
Valstrax Helm | Dragonheart Lv 1 Weakness Exploit Lv 1 |
Valstrax Mail |
Dragonheart Lv 1 Resuscitate Lv 2 |
Valstrax Braces | Dragonheart Lv 1 Weakness Exploit Lv 2 |
Valstrax Coil |
Dragonheart Lv 1 Resuscitate Lv 1 Resentment Lv 2 |
Valstrax Greaves | Dragonheart Lv 1 Resentment Lv 1 |
Decorations
Because Spinning Axe mode tears through sharpness, you need ways to mitigate this. Two of the alternatives are Master's Touch and Protective Polish skills.
You also want to use Critical Jewel 2. It scales the damage better for Scream in The Night. You can check the our calculator
Talisman skills + slots | Decorations | Notes |
---|---|---|
Attack Boost 1 |
Critical Jewel 2 x3 Expert Jewel 2 x2 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
Attack Boost talisman option. |
Critical Boost 1 |
Critical Jewel 2 x2 Attack Jewel 2 x1 Expert Jewel 2 x2 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
This is another great option. |
Critical Eye 1 |
Critical Jewel 2 x3 Attack Jewel 2 x1 Expert Jewel 2 x1 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
Now you can add additional Attack Jewel 2 for a significant boost to Effective Raw on this charge blade build |
Any skill |
Critical Jewel 2 x3 Expert Jewel 2 x2 Mastery Jewel 2 x3 Grinder Jewel 1 x3 |
Although you would think that having Attack Jewel 2 would be great. However, having Expert Jewel 2 gives a little more effective raw and more white sharpness |
Conclusion
Hope these builds will help you through Monster Hunter Rise. I will try to keep them updated as new patches are introduced.
