Blunt Weapon build (Patch 1.63) - Cyberpunk 2077
This post will cover the best Blunt weapon build in Cyberpunk 2077. In my opinion, these weapons do not get the same attention as katana and sword weapons.
However, running around with a golden bat or electrocuting cane can be charming in itself. Don't you agree?
Blunt Weapon build
The build's aim is very simple. Survive, stun and break enemy noses. There is nothing much to say and I will try to get out the most of this build by picking the correct perks, attributes, and gear.
Of course, there are some tactics that you should use to survive and the build heavily relies on good gear.
Attributes
This section will cover the recommended attribute progression for Blunt Weapon build
Starting the game
At the start of the game, you may not start using blunt weapons instantly. However, the attributes that we choose will still improve the overall performance of V.
- Cool +3.
- Body +3. Increases damage with melee weapons.
- Technical ability +1
Progression
Progressing through the game Body is the main attribute. It gives health, stamina, and increases damage with melee weapons.
Cool is another attribute that will benefit greatly, especially during long fights where you can stack up Cold Blood buffs.
Level | Reflex | Body | Tech | Cool | Int |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
10 | 3 | 10 | 6 | 9 | 3 |
30 | 3 | 18 | 12 | 15 | 3 |
50 | 8 | 20 | 20 | 20 | 3 |
Alternatives
If you want to maximize your critical chance there is an alternative, however, it needs some calculation whether it gives large improvements.
Instead of putting points to Reflexes add them to Intelligence. Then subtract 2 points or more if you do not need legendary gear from Technical Ability
Put those points to Intelligence.
This should allow you to get the Limbic System Enhancement Rare version for a 4% Crit Chance increase. Moreover, you can equip Visual Support Cortex for Crit Damage increase
Perks
This section will cover the best perks for Blunt Weapon build. Overall Your priority should be everything that increases melee damage. Later on, as you progress try getting crafting-related perks to craft some Epic or Legendary gear.
Street Brawler
I recommend taking only one level of perks that affect Stamina. Later as the game progresses this becomes less and less important as you have more of it.
Also, I do not really use blocking often so I found taking perks related to it redundant.
Body Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Flurry x3 | Increases damage from combo attacks with Blunt Weapons by 50%. |
1 | Crushing Blows x3 | Increases damage from Strong Attacks with Blunt Weapons by 30%. |
4 | Juggernaut | Increases Armor by 15% while blocking with a Blunt Weapon. |
4 | Dazed x2 | All attacks with Blunt Weapons have a 15/30% chance to apply Stun. |

12 | Breathing Space | Increases Stamina regen while blocking with Blunt Weapons by 50%. |
12 | Relentless | Successful attacks with Blunt Weapons against enemies affected by Stun restore 20% Stamina. |

20 | Guerilla | Increases Crit Damage by 60% for 10 sec. after entering combat. +2% per Perk level. |
Athletics
I skip some health-related perks. However, you can definitely take them. For example Dog of War, Cardio Cure, etc. They boost Health regeneration greatly.
Body Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Regeneration | Health slowly regenerates during combat. |
7 | Epimorphosis | Increases Health regen threshold from 60% to 65% in combat and to 100% out of combat. |
9 | Steel and Chrome x2 | Increases melee damage by 10/20%. |
12 | Invincible | Increases max health by 15%. |
12 | Tenacious V | Getting hit does not interrupt Health regeneration. |
14 | Marathoner | Sprinting does not drain Stamina. |
18 | Steel Shell | Increases Armor by 10%. |
20 | The Rock | Enemies cannot knock you down. |
20 | Indestructible | Reduces all incoming damage by 10%. |
20 | Hard Motherfucker | When entering combat, Armor and Resistances increase by 10% for 10 sec. +1% per Perk level. |
Ninjutsu
Take a few perks from this tree to maximize the effectiveness of the Blunt weapon build.
Cool Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
7 | Assassin | Deal 15% more damage to human enemies. |
12 | From the Shadows x2 | Upon entering combat, Crit Chance increases by 20% for 7 sec. |
16 | Hasty Retreat | Temporarily boosts movement speed by 50% for 5 sec. when detected by an enemy. |
Cold Blood
We prioritize quickhack-related perks. However, I definitely recommend taking more of the abilities in this tree if you will have free perks.
Cool Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Cold Blood x3 | After defeating an enemy, gain Cold Blood for 7 sec. and increase movement speed by 2%. Stacks up to 3 times. The duration of each additional stack is 1 sec. shorter. |
5 | Blood Brawl x2 | While Cold Blood is active, increases damage with melee weapons by 10%. |
9 | Rapid Bloodflow x2 | Increases Health regen inside and outside combat by 10% per stack of Cold Blood. |
9 | Defensive Clotting x2 | Increases Armor by 8% per stack of Cold Blood. |
11 | Coolagulant | Stacks of Cold Blood are removed one by one, not all at once. |
12 | Predator x1 (optional) | Increase attack speed by 10% per stack of Cold Blood. Due to the game limitations, some weapons have their attack speed capped very early. Test the perk to see if you really get increased attack speed. |
14 | Pain Is an Illusion | While Cold Blood is active, reduces damage taken by 5%. |
14 | Cold and Calculating | Landing a Crit Hit has a 50% chance of applying a stack of Cold Blood. |
16 | Critical Condition x2 | Increases duration of Cold Blood by 50%. |
16 | Coldest Blood x2 | Increases max stack amount for Cold Blood by 2. |
18 | Immunity | Grants immunity to Bleeding, Poison, Burn, and Shock when at least 4 stacks of Cold Blood are active. |
20 | Bloodswell | Upon receiving lethal damage while Cold Blood is active, prevents death, consumes all stacks of Cold Blood, restoring 10% Health per stack, and grants Damage Immunity for 5 sec. Playing cannot gain Cold Blood while the perk is active. Cooldown 15 sec. |
20 | Merciless | While Cold Blood is active, increases Crit Chance by 5% and Crit Damage by 25%. +1% Crit Chance and +3% Crit Damage per Perk level. |
Crafting
I have always loved having high crafting. Making the best weapons in the game will make your gameplay much easier, especially on high difficulties.
Tech Level | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Mechanic | Gain more components when disassembling. |
5 | True Craftsman | Junk items are automatically disassembled. |
5 | Scrapper | Allows you to craft Rare items. |
11 | Field Technician x2 | Crafted weapons deal 5/10% more damage. |
12 | Grease Monkey | Allows you to craft Epic items. |
16 | Tune-Up | Allows you to upgrade lower-quality components into higher-quality ones. |
18 | Edgerunner Artisan | Allows you to craft Legendary items. |
20 | Cutting Edge | Improves damage and all damage-related stats of crafted weapons by 5%. |
Build tactics
I think a blunt weapon build does not require any specific tactics that would not be mentioned for a normal melee build. However, here are the main points:
- Early in the game, you should concentrate on controlling your stamina usage. If it depletes you enter an exhausted state, which makes you slower. This is the hardest part of early game in my opinion.
- Using stealth is a great option to take out a few enemies before being detected
- Grenades are another good option to knock out a group of enemies while you clobber the ones near you.
- Running away from mid-combat to hide is a viable strategy. This way you can restore HP by waiting or using Bounce Back
