Best Euphoria Build - 100K damage - Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Euphoria build
The build concentrates on maximizing total Toxicity and then chugging decoctions to keep it very high. The result is increased damage by almost 170%. Euphoria mutation shines when Geralt has very high toxicity. This build competes with Metamorphosis Build for the top spot.
Thanks to how decoctions work, it is fairly easy to maintain this level. We will use 3-4 of them to keep toxicity levels extremely high. Moreover, this will leave some leeway for additional potions:
- For healing when you are close to death
- Boosting offensive capabilities
- Improving stamina regeneration
As you can see, a strong enemy like Golem is torn down in a few seconds. Moreover, even though it hit Geralt, thanks to the decoctions we use it is easy to restore health to maximum.
There is also a choice between attack types - heavy and light. If you decide to with Heavy attacks and Rend, expect to easily hit 100K+ on the maximum level. Here is a normal encounter with some nekkers, resulting in 200K+ damage
Of course, this does not look fancy, fighting one of the weaker enemies of the game. Then let me show you a fight with Earth Elemental that has been destroyed with a few hits
I hope this helps to show how powerful the build is. Now here are the main steps that I will cover through the post, to reach the build potential:
- High Toxicity
- Aerodnight silver sword
- Correct potions and decoctions
So let's go through the build
The Build is tested on New Game+ and Deathmarch difficulty.
Skills allocation
Here is the skill list for the Euphoria build
Combat Skills
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Muscle Memory | Fast attack damage increased by 30%. |
Precise Blows | Increases chance of landing a fast attack critical hit by 12% and fast attack critical hit damage by 75%. |
Whirl | Spinning attack that strikes all foes in the surrounding area. Maintaining the attack consumes Stamina and Adrenaline. Consumes 50% less Stamina and Adrenaline |
Strength Training | Strong attack damage increased by 30%. |
Resolve | Adrenaline Point loss upon taking damage is lowered by 100%. |
Razor Focus | Instantly gain one Adrenaline Point when entering combat. The Adrenaline Points generated by sword blows are increased by 30%. |
Fleet Footed | Damage from hits received while dodging is reduced by 100%. |
Sunder Armor (Optional) | Reduces enemy damage resistance by 30%. |
Crushing Blows (optional) | Increases strong attack critical hit chance by 12% and strong attack critical hit damage by 75%. |
Rend (optional) | Deals additional damage in proportion to the Stamina consumed. Ignores enemy Defense and increases critical hit chance by 60%. Adrenaline Points increase total damage by 33% |
I think Rend is an optional skill, and I used it on rare occasions. So if you do not use heavy attacks, just skip it for other perks.
As for the last skills, I leave three optional ones. Once you unlock all of the slots you will have it free to be filled with one of the optional perks. I find them the most relevant for the Euphoria build as it heavily relies on close combat
Alchemy Skills
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Acquired Tolerance | Every known level 1, 2, or 3 alchemy formula increases maximum Toxicity by 0.5 |
Synergy | Increases bonus for mutagen placed in mutagen slot by 50%. |
Fast Metabolism | Toxicity drops 3 points per second faster. |
Hunter Instinct | When Adrenaline Points are at their maximum, critical hit damage against the targeted enemy type is increased by 100%. |
Killing Spree | If Toxicity is above 0, each opponent killed increases critical hit chance by 30% for the duration of that fight. |
General Skills
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Cat School Techniques | Each piece of light armor increases critical hit damage by 25% and fast attack damage by 5%. |
Metabolic Control | Increases maximum Toxicity by 30 points. |
Mutations
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Euphoria | The holy grail of this build. With it unlocked you will now gain a 0.75% increase in damage for each Toxicity point Geralt has. So start drinking those decoctions and stay on the edge of the Toxicity. |
Detailed Skill Progression
This covers detailed progression for the build as many players will not be high level to have 50+ skill points. So follow the abilities as you progress for maximum effectiveness.
If you are below level 11, I suggest following early game build guides
Order | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Muscle Memory | Fast attacks are the bread and butter of most combat builds, especially early in the game. This will improve Geralt's damage to them |
2 | Resolve | We need a second skill for progression. Of course, this will also be useful throughout the game as Euphoria build relies on having high Adrenaline. You do not want to lose it every time you get hit accidentally |
3 | Precise Blows | Increases fast attacks critical chance and damage, further improving Geralt's DPS with them |
4 | Acquired Tolerance | At this stage you should already start getting some decoctions and potions, using this perk we will increase Geralt's maximum toxicity. With it, you can chug more potions and start having your first decoctions enabled. |
5 | Cat School Techniques | With this build, I recommend going all in on fast attacks, due to this we take this ability to improve your critical hit damage and overall attack for each light piece you wear. |
6 | Strength Training | Increases strong attack damage, but we also take it for progression. |
7 | Whirl | This perk is a beast. This will probably be your main damage dealer in almost all encounters. It requires some practice but allows one to hit enemies in 360 degrees constantly. Of course, Whirl consumes stamina and Adrenaline, so have that in mind when using it. |
8 | Razor Focus | Another powerful skill in Euphoria build an arsenal. It grants instant Adrenaline points on each combat encounter, for increased damage. Moreover, increases adrenaline generation from sword attacks. |
10 | Metabolic Control | A very important skill for Euphoria build. It raises the Toxicity level allowing for a greater bonus from the mutation. Moreover, you will be able to chug additional potions during combat with it. |
11 | Fleet Footed | Great quality of life perk, that increases invulnerability frames for dodge. Dodging is superior to rolling as it does not stop stamina regeneration |
12 | Any 3 abilities in the Alchemy tree with 3 levels | Unlocking the main alchemy abilities for stronger mutagens and better potion management. Fast Metabolism will allow the use of potions more often |
13 | Synergy | |
14 | Fast Metabolism |
At this point, I recommend having all of the places of power collected. You will need a lot of skill points to fully progress through the build and unlock other skill slots.
Order | Skill | Description |
---|---|---|
15 | Toxic Blood | Unlock the main mutation of the build |
16 | Euphoria | |
17 | Killing Spree | I recommend switching it with your less-used skills. For example, I rarely use Rend, so I switched it with this one. Later on, when new slots unlocked I put it back in. To unlock the next slot we need additional 2 mutations Hunter Instinct is a very powerful skill. Because you will be generating adrenaline points very fast, your critical hit damage will be increased to 100% |
18 | Any 2 mutations | |
19 | Hunter Instinct |
This will leave 2 open skill slots that you can fill with any of your preferred abilities.
Tactics
In this section, I would like to share some tips on how to best play Euphoria build in Witcher 3
Decoctions and potions
The EUphoria build has to cross a fine line between being at maximum toxicity and having it low enough to drink potions in case the combat encounter requires it. For this here is the number of decoctions. Here is my recommendation for Decoction usage with different total toxicity:
- 125 - 174: maximum 2 decoctions
- 175 - 220: maximum 3 decoctions
- 225+: maximum 4 decoctions
This will allow the use of additional potions like Superior Thunderbolt or Superior White Raffard's Decoction mid-fight.
To check your maximum toxicity go to inventory and open the Player stats menu by clicking "C" (on PC).
General Combat
The Euphoria build is fairly straightforward. You have two main options in combat - using heavy or fast attacks. In addition, you will use Rend or Whirl to further complement your combat
- Whirl - clear out multiple enemies that surround you. Of course, you can use it on a single enemy, and just use it to overwhelm them. When Whirl is activated Geralt cannot dodge, making him prone to enemy ranged attacks
- Rend - a very powerful skill, that allows the build to hit 100K+ damage. It drains all of the stamina to hit with one large attack. Of course, you expose yourself to enemy attacks, so use it, when fighting a single enemy
So the combat is very situational, but it drills down to the above-mentioned options - fast attacks, strong attacks, whirl, and Rend.
My favorite is Whirl, and Geralt just spins around shredding enemies to pieces. Thanks to the high critical damage of the build it takes 1-2 hits to take out Nilfgaardian guard.
Equipment
Here is my suggested gear for the Euphoria build in Witcher 3
Weapons
Steel Swords
Item | Description |
---|---|
Toussaint Knight's Steel Sword | This is the most powerful steel sword in the game. Iris may compare to it in terms of damage, however, this has no confusing mechanics and pure high-damage stats |
Iris | I recommend this Steel sword if you use heavy attacks. It has a unique ability to discharge its energy for an extremely strong attack. |
Viroledan Blade | A decent sword with a +75% critical hit damage bonus. It can only be crafted |
Silver Swords
Item | Description |
---|---|
Aerondight | This is the most powerful sword in the game. Each attack raises its charge, resulting in higher damage. However, it requires some grinding for it to be at peak effectiveness. Moreover, to add a rune or runeword to it you will need to add sockets at runewright |
Gesheft | A very powerful silver sword that gives a +100% Critical hit damage bonus and a +15 Critical hit chance. |
Ami | A strong sword in the game, but the weakest option out of the listed ones. The big drawback is that not many enemies have high armor to make use of +300 armor-piercing |
Weapon upgrades
Upgrade | Description |
---|---|
Severance | Increases the reach of Rend and Whirl. Makes combat much easier, especially with Whirl. To be honest, I think this upgrade is the only thing you will need for Euphoria build, regarding weapons. |
Greater Chernobog Runestone | Increases the attack power of the weapon. The good option before obtaining Severance |
Armors
This is a very interesting part of the build. Our goal is to have high DPS in melee combat - specifically silver and steel swords. Moreover, we want to utilize Euphoria to its full potential, which can be reached when Toxicity is at its maximum
The optimal gear I recommend is the Manticore set and Nilfgaardian gauntlets. Moreover, this loadout can drink the additional potion. Thanks to Fast Metabolism, it takes a few seconds until you can use another one, making it very versatile. The stats below are shown with Superior Thunderbolt
Item | Effects |
---|---|
Manticore Armor | +5 Maximum Toxicity +19% Resistance to piercing damage +24% Resistance to slashing damage +28% Resistance to damage from monsters +25% Critical hit damage bonus |
Nilfgaardian Guardsman's Gauntlets | +5% Resistance to piercing damage +5% Resistance to bludgeoning damage +5% Resistance to slashing damage +5% Resistance to damage from monsters +50% Critical hit damage bonus |
Manticore Trousers | +5 Toxicity +9% Resistance to slashing damage +8% Resistance to damage from monsters +33% Resistance to elemental damage +5% Critical hit chance |
Manticore Boots | +5 Toxicity +5% Resistance to piercing damage +6% Resistance to slashing damage +4% Resistance to damage from monsters +25% Critical hit damage bonus |
Of course, some people may not prefer the looks of the Manticore set. You can go for Feline gear. The three pieces that we will use can increase Fast attack damage by 30% for 5 seconds after using Strong Attack. So if you use them this can be an excellent DPS increase. But you will not be able to use Superior Thunderbolt if using 4 decoctions.
Note: I was not able to get this effect of the 30% armor set reflected on the Stats page
You should note, that this loadout is not able to drink any potions, which makes it a risky option
Item | Effects |
---|---|
Grandmaster Feline Armor | +22% Attack Power +12% Resistance to piercing damage +17% Resistance to slashing damage +17% Resistance to damage from monsters +46% Resistance to elemental damage |
Nilfgaardian Guardsman's Gauntlets | +5% Resistance to piercing damage +5% Resistance to bludgeoning damage +5% Resistance to slashing damage +5% Resistance to damage from monsters +50% Critical hit damage bonus |
Grandmaster Feline Trousers | +11% Attack Power +5% Resistance to piercing damage +7% Resistance to slashing damage +7% Resistance to damage from monsters +16% Resistance to elemental damage |
Grandmaster Feline Boots | +11% Attack Power +5% Resistance to piercing damage +6% Resistance to slashing damage +6% Resistance to damage from monsters +6% Resistance to elemental damage |
However, if you stay with 3 decoctions you can chug multiple potions like Superior Thunderbolt, Superior Blizzard, etc. This makes it a very viable option compared to Manticore, where you can only use 1.
Armor upgrades
Upgrade | Description |
---|---|
Levity | Doesn't matter which set you pick, you want all of your gear to count as light. That is the only way to get the critical stats bonus from the Cat School Techniques perk. |
Greater Glyph of Mending | I think this is the most relevant Glyph for the Euphoria build. As you have high toxicity you want to have innate health regeneration. Unfortunately, it is not enough and you will still need Troll Decoction |
Your preferred Glyph for signs | To be honest, I do not use any signs with this build. Occasionally, I would use Igni, but that's it |
Potions and tonics
Item | Effects |
---|---|
Superior Thunderbolt | This is the most recommended potion to use. It will improve attack power and grant 100% critical chance during storms. |
Superior Tawny Owl | As Rend and Whirl rely on Stamina, this is another potion that will improve Geralt's combat prowess by allowing him to use those attacks more often |
Superior White Raffard's Decoction | I recommend having this potion in the quick slot. It instantly restores 100% HP and grants immunity to damage for a short period. |
Superior Blizzard | This is just a recommendation, in case you have difficulties, makes combat much easier as time slows for you. You can then easily predict enemy attacks and avoid them. |
Decoctions
Here are all the decoctions I recommend. Generally, with Euphoria build you can 4 of them active at a single time. However, for that, you need 200+ toxicity. If you do not have it here are my recommended decoction prioritization based on different total toxicity:
- 125 - 174: maximum 2 decoctions
- 175 - 220: maximum 3 decoctions
- 225+: maximum 4 decoctions
We want to leave some leeway to use 1-2 potions during the fight to either increase Geralt's offensive stats or instantly restore health.
I always recommend having Troll Decoction put on, just to be on the safe side as Euphoria build will always go above the 50% toxicity threshold
Item | Effects |
---|---|
Troll Decoction | This decoction should be used all the time when you plan to have the Toxicity above 50%. It improves HP regeneration during and outside of combat and counteracts the Toxicity debuff. |
Ekimmara Decoction | This decoction is the main one for survivability. It will allow you to regenerate HP every time Geralt hits an enemy. |
Katakan Decoction | Thanks to this decoction you will raise Geralt's critical hit chance by 10%. This will greatly improve overall DPS. |
Alghoul Decoction | Increases adrenaline generation until the first enemy hits. This is important as Hunter Instinct will activate much faster, you can use Whirl for longer. Moreover, more adrenaline points result in higher damage. |
Ekhidna Decoction | Actions that consume stamina regenerate HP. So when using Rend or Signs this is a perfect choice |
Conclusion
