You will have to go and defeat the Gnolls (Lv. 4) and either save Olly and Rugan or fight them, but do not open the Caravan Strongbox. If you do not fight them they will bring back the strongbox if you do you will have to carry it back to Zarys.

There is a building with a frightened ox. Put some wooden boxes away to see the entrance. You need a password, you get it from the helpless dudes in a cave (in the middle north of the Map, where the Gnolls fighted), or from its corpses.
Gale can absorb the Magic from this Item. If Gale consumes it, it vanishes forever. That is irreversible and unavoidable.
