Act 1. Rewarded from Derryth Bonecloak in Mycnoid Colony - Underdark for finding Baelen Bonecloak.

There are three main ways to get into Underdark:

  1. Go through Zhentarim's Base near the Waukeen's Rest. There is a lift behind the illusionary wall at the far end of the tunnel, near the wolves.
  2. Enter through the Defiled Temple in Shattered Sanctum, Goblin Camp.
  3. Enter through Teahouse, where you fight Ethel. You have to wear her special mask to see the illusion of the wall.

How to find Baelen?

The difficult part is safely saving Baelen. First, you will have to find the area where he is located, luckily it is quite close to the Mycnoid Colony:

Be careful, and not rush the area, it is filled with green mushrooms - Bibberbangs, which explode upon being touched.

Now, the problem is that the mushrooms explode if you get too close, and once they release their spores, they start spreading and will reach the burning torch. You will need to reach the backpack which then needs to be thrown to Baelen:

It is fairly easy to reach and you have multiple options:

  • Use Mage Hand to go to the backpack and throw it to Baelen
  • Teleport yourself using Misty Step, and then throw the backpack
  • Use Sovereign Glut (if it joined your party) and use him to throw the backpack

These options will allow Baelen to safely teleport out and go back to Derryth. After that, go back, talk with her and she will award the gloves.
