Safely burning 3 star artifacts - Genshin Impact

Here are some tips which I found that will save you from burning your artifacts accidentally:

Equipping you alt characters

You can use your alt characters as mules to hold your 3 star artifacts which you do not want to be burned automatically. However, this may require some manual work and is not 100% proof when you remove the items back to backpack.

Level items by one level

This strategy is better one as you will know if item is leveled it should be left alone, so you can auto add them safely and if you see that item had a level you are free to skip it or remove it:
